Another weekend gone by..
Haven't been up to much good since the last post! Work's been going on. Life's been going no where in particular...
Watched more movies, and here are my 2 paise bits (not a patch on Iquews!)
- Into the Wild got me thinking - keep off the greens! Quite a brilliant movie, also makes me wonder what i'm doing here in office!
- Finally got to see Tsotsi - it had been recommended to me by our South African cab driver in Cape Town year before last. Had no idea it would be SO GOOD!
- Death @ a Funeral - brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!!!
...i can't seem to find the bullet points symbol - so hyphens will have to do for the above!
I got down to reading a little more of Shantaram! Its close to a year of starting the book - but considering I'm not much of a reader, that's not surprising to my near and dear ones! I usually only take it with me on train journeys, which I haven't done in AGES! I miss my train rides. Anyway, I'm aiming at finishing it before my first ever online ordered book arrives! Well, come to think of it, it's the first ever book I've bought myself! Growing up, every birthday I'd dread getting books - didn't need to open the gift-wrap to know it was a book... I'd just pass it on to my sister (the bookworm)!!! I've bought books as presents for friends who I know love reading, but the only books I've ever read have either been lent or given to me! So I'm quite excited! Its called The Little Man. Also I've been chatting with the author! Which makes it kinda cooler! Unless of course I don't like the book - that'll be a bummer! Hehe! ...which isn't likely, considering it is autobiographical (which is what I usually choose to read) - and I loved the first chapter. If I can get through the first page I usually like the books, coz most books just a paragraph is enough to know I won't be interested!
I should actually write a post on how much I disliked reading as a child - and how that's been changing... very slowly! Some other time perhaps.
I've started swimming again! Not sure how long it will last, but its what I look forward to most in my day! I need another swimming costume tho' - something more racer like to make me glide through unobstructed! This tankini's a bit to flappy!! Another Speedo... soon I hope!
End of May is my best friend's wedding! SIGH! Can't believe it! I've known him from the time we were quite small... the first time we went to his place was in Class III! We were probably the youngest on the swimming team together - tho' he looked younger, like a little mouse!!! My sweet Ra! We both had big sisters on the team - and his mum and my dad were both teachers-in-charge of our teams! And then as we grew older he was part of our gang - 4 girls & him! He was practically one of the girls! During the difficult times too - he was there. He was not only my best friend, but my athletics coach too - yelling, encouraging, running along side me making it look so easy while I'd struggle to keep up! I did well that season! Then I moved away, but our holidays were always crazy - one summer at his place one of the last few times we were all together, we got very drunk, smoke "beedis" and climbed on the parapet of his gorgeous old mansion! He spent most of that party with his head in pot - while Fruitti and I went dancing in the rain @ 5 in the morning!! We've had some sooperb times together! And here's wishing him a sooperber life with M! Now that he has a wife, may be I can be his caddy someday... and check out the golfers on the course in exotic countries! ;-)
To Ra and M from my favourite movie!
